Small Porcelain Courtyard Garden – August 2020
This customer wanted us to create a garden that had the low maintenance of a courtyard but still feel warm and have designated controllable areas for plants. As it was quite a small garden we decided to use a light porcelain paving with a black limestone cobble for border detail. The light colour opened up the garden giving it the feel of a larger area than it really was. Our customer was keen to use the garden to host BBQs and somewhere to relax, this led us to create a small area of high quality 40mm artificial grass which could be used for sunbathing and sitting as it was very soft to touch. The use of softwood sleepers for raised beds brought the design back from a too modern look and gave a more classic and rustic feel. This also offered a consistent theme of materials to the pergola which we also made as a timber structure. We then installed multicoloured Wifi lighting into the patio and borders which can be controlled by smartphone. All that was left was to provide somewhere for the hot tube to plug in and they were all set to enjoy their new surroundings.
Sensory Garden – August 2020
Sensory Gardens are becoming a big thing, and if done correctly they can offer both a calming and stimulating space for children and adults alike. Our customer in Cheriton wanted their outdoor space to offer that very thing to her son who has Autism.
This was a full rip out and start from scratch project incorporating as many different materials and colours as possible. We used a Camel Dust sandstone paving that had lots of colour variations throughout the stone, then we installed a path that had space to include lots of different textures. Gems, beach shingle, multicoloured fish tank stones, mosaic tiles, Artificial Grass to name a few. We also built an area adults could sit under a pergola while the kids are playing. Finally we designed an area where interchangeable activity boards could be swapped out, and surrounding the whole garden RGB Wifi Lights. This one was a real labour of love.
